To successfully deploy SVA appliances, adhere to the following minimum requirements:
- Disk Space Allocation: allocate a minimum of 12GB of disk space. Considering maintaining a dedicated maintance network interface separete from the services network interface. For clustered setups, it’s advisable to establish an additional independent NIC to mitigate latency.
- Network Interfaces: ensure a minimum of 2 network interfaces. It’s a good idea to maintain the maintenance network interface independent from the services network interface. If the cluster is configured, it’s recommended to create another independent NIC to reduce latency.
- Hypervisor Core Configuration: Optimal performance can be achieved by configuring dedicated cores within the hypervisor environment.
- Cluster Service Configuration Best Practices: When setting up a cluster service, follow recommended best practices. Be vigilant about latency and clock skew, as these factors can significantly impact virtual platforms.
By adhering to these requirements and guidelines, you’ll pave the way for a successful and efficient deployment of SVA appliances.
The SVA Enterprise Edition includes software that is distributed under the terms of the GNU Affero General Public License v3.
The licensing model for SVA products is directly tied to the number of instances deployed per virtual template. The quantity of resources allocated per virtual machine, such as CPU, memory, or throughput, does not impact the licensing arrangement.
For a single node requirement, a single appliance license suffices. In scenarios where a cluster LB service is necessary, two appliance licenses are requisite.
Upon obtaining an appliance, a certificate for the specific product version is provided. This certificate accommodates compatibility with various hypervisors associated with that product version. Each appliance can be upgraded with incremental software releases, facilitated through a valid Support Plan via an install package. However, a redeployment is necessary for transitioning to a new product version, entailing the acquisition of an upgraded certificate for the new version.
During the appliance’s operational lifespan, a redeployment is feasible as long as the hostname remains unchanged. Similarly, an appliance certificate can be reissued to modify the hostname, assuming no associated redeployment is needed.
How Does the Evaluation Process Function?
The evaluation of our product comes at no cost and grants you the ability to deploy, create, and utilize the actual product for a default duration of one month. If you require an extension of this evaluation period, you can submit a request to our Sales Team through the provided contact form. During the evaluation phase, our pre-sales support is readily available to assist you.
Upon reaching a decision to make a purchase, a definitive activation certificate can be issued, eliminating the need for a fresh appliance deployment.
Migrating from Community to Enterprise Edition
To transition from the Community Edition (Free Load Balancer) to the Enterprise Edition, a redeployment of the appliance is necessary. This is due to the optimized nature of the operating system for networking operations. Subsequently, a configuration migration process needs to be implemented. Our technical team is on hand to facilitate the automation of this migration process as required.
Licenses Required for Cluster Setup
For the establishment of a cluster and to achieve high availability (HA), two licenses are requisite. The SKUDONET cluster operates as a stateful cluster, which means that if the primary node becomes inactive, the second node assumes control seamlessly without causing disruption to clients. Both nodes remain continuously synchronized, encompassing configurations, automatic processes, connections, user sessions, and more. Consequently, the simultaneous operation of both nodes is essential for swift and smooth node switching.
Support Availability
Support services are not inherently included with the appliance. They must be acquired separately as part of the product to access updates, security advisories, patches, hotfixes, development guidance, and assistance from our specialized Support Team. We offer a range of support plans tailored to various application requirements, ranging from Subscription to 24×7 support services.
